The BlackBerry Bold 9700 certainly has a very BOLD RIM cell phone name. Of course, some of the highlights of the phone encompass the iconic keyboard that is located at the bottom of the phone. Also, RIM did a very good job in improving their RIM cell phone, whereby they have made the keyboard easier to type, as compared to other models that come with tiny little keyboards which are a nightmare for people with large fingers and palm. BlackBerry Bold 9700 RIM cell phone specifications: General: 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100, HSDPA 1700 / 2100 / 900 Announced: on 2009, October Available: Released 2009, November Size Dimensions: 109 x 60 x 14 mm Weight: 122 g Display Type: TFT, 65K colors Size: 480 x 360 pixels, 2.44 inches, Full QWERTY keyboard, Touch-sensitive optical trackpad Sound Alert types: Vibration, MP3 ringtones Speakerphone: Yes, 3.5 mm audio jack Memory Phonebook: Practically unlimited entries and fields, Photocall Call records: Yes Internal: 256MB storage, 128 MB RAM Card slot: microSD, up to 16GB, 2GB included, buy memory Data: GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps, EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps, 3G HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps WLAN: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, UMA Bluetooth: Yes, v2.1 with A2DP Infrared port: No USB: Yes, microUSB v2.0 Camera: 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus, LED flash Operating System: BlackBerry OS; 5.0 CPU: 624 MHz processor Messaging: SMS, MMS, Email, IM Browser: HTML Radio: No Games: Yes + downloadable GPS: Yes, with A-GPS support Java: Yes, MIDP 2.0, BlackBerry maps Document editor: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) Media player: MP3/WMA/AAC+ Video player: DivX/WMV/XviD/3gp Battery: Standard battery, Li-Ion 1500 mAh Stand-by: Up to 408 h Talk time: Up to 6 h On the other hand, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is also lighter when compared to the Nokia E72, whereby it only weighs a mere 122 grams. Personally, I believe that you’ll like the light weight RIM cell phone, as you can easily slide this particular phone inside your pocket and bring it where ever you go. Also, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 works on a 2.4 inch display that has 65K colors. Personally, I think RIM can do a better job in this particular area, as clearly the display unit is too tiny for comfort. A device with larger display like the iPhone, would surely be more comfortable. And judging by the fact that the current cell phone standards have more than 200k of color, the 65K color just aren’t enough. However, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 does come with a 3.5mm audio jack, which allows you to plug in your standard 3.5mm devices inside the socket. On the other hand, the microUSB port is also very handy indeed. Sadly, there’s no cover for the microUSB port, and I predict that this particular area will accumulate dust after prolonged usages. Any by running on the latest BlackBerry OS 5.0, this gives you extended functionality on the phone. Perhaps there will be more gaming options in the near future, and I’m pretty sure developers would definitely come up with great applications for the phone. ![]() |
