The BlackBerry Storm2 9520 RIM cell phone certainly made headlines when it was first announced by the company. Of course, just like the name implies, it created a storm amongst loyal BlackBerry fans around the world. Generally, the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 is created by RIM with hopes of providing an alternative to the iPhone, and hence, you have a phone design that looks pretty much like a PDA. Since the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 comes with a rather unusual BlackBerry design, some fans regard this phone as something out of the blue, as they are not used to the smartphone-like design. BlackBerry Storm2 9520 RIM cell phone specifications: General: 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, 3G Network HSDPA 2100 Announced: 2009, October Available: Released 2009, November Size Dimensions: 112.5 x 62.2 x 14 mm Weight: 160 g Display Type: TFT capacitive touchscreen, 65K colors Size: 360 x 480 pixels, 3.25 inches, Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate Sound Alert types: Vibration; MP3 ringtones Speakerphone: Yes, 3.5 mm audio jack Phonebook: Practically unlimited entries and fields, Photocall Call records: Yes Internal: 2 GB Card slot: microSD (TransFlash) up to 16GB Data: GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps, EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps, 3G, HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA WLAN: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g Bluetooth: Yes, v2.1 with A2DP Infrared port: No USB: Yes, microUSB v2.0 Camera: 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus, LED flash Features: Geo-tagging, image stabilization Video: Yes Operating System: BlackBerry OS Messaging: SMS, MMS, Email, IM Browser: HTML Games: Yes + downloadable GPS: Yes, with A-GPS support Java: Yes Others: BlackBerry maps, Document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF), MP3/WMA/AAC+ player, MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player, Organizer, Voice memo/dial Battery: Standard battery, Li-Ion 1400 mAh Stand-by: Up to 305 h (2G) / Up to 280 h (3G) Talk time: Up to 5 h (2G) / Up to 6 h (3G) Personally, I like the design on the BlackBerry Storm2 9520, as I find it to be better when compared to other keyboard phones. On the other hand, this RIM cell phone is rather heavy, whereby it weighs 160 grams, which I think might be too heavy for comfort when you stuff it inside your pockets. Also, the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 comes with a rather huge screen which measures 3.25 inch – that’s almost as large as the iPhone’s 3.5 inch display. The display comes with 360x480 resolution as well. What I like the most about this particular RIM cell phone is the touchscreen capabilities. Generally, I don’t have any issues with a normal BlackBerry phone that has a keyboard built-into the phone, but I do prefer alternatives, such as typing on the screen itself. Also I find the battery capacity to be truly amazing, whereby the phone comes with a 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery which can give you 2 days of heavy usage time – that’s 2 hours fiddling with the phone’s functionality and 30 minutes of calls. And when it comes to storage, the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 can provide you with up to 16GB of microSD card storage, and it is hot-swappable as well. Well I’m pretty impressed with the BlackBerry Storm2 9520, aren’t you? ![]() |
