Surely, the Palm Pre RIM cell phone is a cross breed between a smartphone with a BlackBerry touch. Generally, the Palm Pre has a slider keyboard, in which you can slide out when you want to type on it. On the other hand, you can also use it just like any other PDAs out in the market. Of course, the Palm Pre can be considered as one of the most unique RIM cell phone in the market, whereby it comes with multi-touch display, Application Store, fluid and creative UI, and you can also surf the internet using the excellent web browser which is built into the phone. Here are the detailed specifications for the Palm Pre RIM cell phone: General: 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, 3G Network, HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 Announced: 2009, Februray Available: Released 2009, October Size Dimensions: 100.5 x 59.5 x 16.9 mm Weight: 133 g Display Type: TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 320 x 480 pixels Size: 3.1 inches, Full QWERTY keyboard, Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate Sound Alert types: Vibration; Downloadable polyphonic, MP3 ringtones Speakerphone: Yes, 3.5 mm audio jack Memory Phonebook: Practically unlimited entries, Photocall Call records: Practically unlimited Internal: 8 GB Card slot: No Data: GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps EDGE: Yes, 3G, HSDPA WLAN: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g Bluetooth: Yes, v2.1 with A2DP, headset support only Infrared port: Yes USB: Yes, microUSB Camera: 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, enhanced fixed focus, LED flash Operating System: Palm webOS CPU: ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz, PowerVR SGX graphics Messaging: SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email Browser: WAP 2.0 / HTML (PocketIE) Games: Yes GPS: Yes Others: Java, Voice memo Personally, I like that Palm Pre packaging. This particular smartphone arrive in a sleek white box with a photo of the phone itself. On the other hand, the Palm Pre only weighs a mere 133 grams, which I think is very light for a smartphone. Also, RIM did a very good job in designing this particular cell phone, whereby they have shaped the phone in such a way that will slide comfortably on your palm – perhaps that’s why they call this phone the Palm Pre? Well the Palm Pre does come with a slightly larger display, whereby the screen size measures 3.1 inch. On the other hand, I find the TFT screen to be truly magnificent, as it can display up to 16M colors via 320x480 resolution. Do take note that the screen size is just slightly smaller than the iPhone, which measures 3.5 inch. Just like its brethrens, the Palm Pre also comes with a microUSB port, and this particular port has a cover! I’m pretty sure that the microUSB port will offer you better connectivity with other computing devices. And most surprisingly, the Palm Pre comes with an unprecedented 500 hours of stand-by time, and you can talk on the RIM cell phone for up to 5 hours. Surely, I’m pretty sure you’ll like this RIM cell phone called the Palm Pre very much, don’t you think so? ![]() |
